We are delighted to host Crawley's first Noir at the Bar at The Old Punchbowl in the High Street, Crawley as part of the weekend of events - Crawley Crime at WORDfest 24.

Crime writers collide with live theatre...

The Ancient Priors in Crawley High Street is the perfect setting for this dark and spooky crime event. Join our host,Doctor Who writer Guy Adams, as he leads us through the various rooms of the building and introduces us to three acclaimed crime writers Alexandra Benedict, Anna Mazzola and Ally Wilkes, who will each entertain with a dark short story. The evening concludes with a Q & A panel hosted by Guy with the three crime writers. Come with your questions ready...

There will be an interval with refreshments and book sales.

Calling all children who love reading and using their imaginations. Jenny McLachlan, best selling author of the bestselling "Land of Roar" series, will be visiting Waterstones Crawley to sign copies of her book and to encourage children to get crafty and create their very own fantasy lands!

Come and join Crawley Creative Writing Group for one of their regular sessions at Crawley Library. Two prompts for creative writing, whether it be Poetry, Fiction, or Life writing, no experience required, free session, friendly group, just bring something to write with and on.

WORDfest are delighted to host a discussion with local authors Angela Petch and Juliet West who both write historical fiction. Find out how they started writing, what inspired them to write and why they have chosen to write about events in the past. The evening starts with free tea, coffee and cake, alongside the Book Swap Table - bring a book and take a book or more, with a donation to Book Club's Zambia book project. There will be an hour of chat with the authors, followed by Q & A from the auduience. There will be an opportunity to buy books from the authors - please bring cash.

Our annual recognition of International Women's Day returns in association with Diverse Crawley. Meet the lovely ladies who will be giving away a commissioned poem and a rose in the middle of County Mall.

Following a series of workshops exploring the unique character of various native languages and dialects over the past few months, the participants will perform them in front of an audience in Crawley Museum. Languages and dialects include English, Lancashire, Arabic, Russian, Persian, Farsi, Gaelic, Irish and Shola.

Join WORDfest for our annual Family Day at Crawley Library all for FREE. We have an awesome line up of authors and illustrators for ages 2 - 11 years old running workshops and events throughout the day.

Creative Playground Crawley will be running a drop-in art table, there will book trails plus The Book Nook will be selling books.

Nick Sharratt, Hannah Moffatt, Lucy Unwin, Matt Carr, Louise Fitzgerald and Lucy Brandt will all be running hour long workshops with lots of audience participation.
