Good news, thanks to the success of some our funding applications we are very pleased to be able to offer many of the events this year for free.  Tickets will still need to be reserved as places for some events are limited so please do reserve your ticket by calling the library. Launch Night – Thursday 23rd April

Celebrate Crawley WORDfest’s 5th Birthday and World Book Night (WBN) in Style with an evening of stories, books poetry, music and wine. Also as part of the WBN celebrations we are asking everyone to bring along a book to swap with a shortexplanation as to why someone should read the book. Get Stuck in Day  – Saturday 25th April

A first for WORDfest 2015, Get stuck in day is about everyone of all ages coming together and joining in on activities and creative workshops. There will be something for everyone including art activities, children’s authors, spokenword workshops, minecraft games, the Do Stuff Bus, paper crafts, theatre performance and games writing workshops. More details to follow but keep the 25th April free as its going to be a spectacular day of free events for all the family.

New Faces of Fiction – Wednesday 29th April

Meet Alex Hourston author of ‘In My House’ and Kate Hamer ‘Girl in a Red Coat’ both debut novelists tipped by The Observer in their New Faces of Fiction List to make a splash. Location: Crawley Library  Doors 7.00pm Tickets: FREE  call 01293 651751 or email us to reserve your place.

 

WORDfest DIY – Thursday 30th April

WORDfest Quiz – Friday 1st May

WORDfest Quiz back by popular demand now at a new venue so more people can take part.  Teams of up to 6 people. Come with friends, colleagues or family or join in one of the teams on the night. Refreshments included.

Worth Park Happening – Sunday 3rd May

Experience Worth Park with words, music and art. Why not bring a picnic?

Lunchtime Talk Special – Sikh Soldiers in Brighton in WW1 – Wednesday 6th May

Talk by Bert Williams MBE. A moving and insightful look into this unique clash of cultures. Using the soldiers own words and letters written from Brighton Pavilion during their convalescence.

 Dark & Stormy – Wednesday 6th May

What draws a writer to crime fiction? Dark & Stormy Festival, in association with Beach Hut Writers, brings a people carrier full of Brighton’s best selling crime writers to WordFest to discuss murder, trangression and detection, and the inspiration that can be drawn from living in London on Sea.

WORDfest Finale  – Thursday 7th May

An eclectic mix of artists, authors and poets coming together to celebrate all things WORDY and the end of WORDfest 2015. More details to follow. Food will be available to purchase.
