What was the last book you read?
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd – a nice easy read for the plane journey over from Sydney to London. I don’t get as much time to read anymore thanks to my 6 month old baby Toby!
Which book would you recommend to a younger version of you that hadn’t yet read it?
I loved 1984 by George Orwell – an absolute classic! I didn’t read it until I was in my late twenties and I couldn’t believe how relevant it still is today.
What was the first book you remember having a big impact on you as a child?
I couldn’t get enough of Roald Dahl’s books. I especially loved The Witches and The BFG.
What would be your dream writing job? You can go anywhere, meet anyone and write about anything.
I would love to be a freelance travel writer for Lonely Planet and be sent off on holiday to exotic destinations to explore and write reviews.
As a copywriter what is the strangest thing you have ever been asked to write about?
It isn’t really strange but the most challenging job I have had was writing website content for an aquatic engineering firm. I had to get to grips with a lot of terms and vocabulary that was new to me.
Laura will be appearing on the Working With Words panel at WORDfest on Tuesday April 5th.
